I am passionate and “addicted” to soccer, and have won quite a few important championships in my life.
Celio Alves, Msc
Celio is the School Principal of Padre Rodolpho High School, in Canaan. He is the co-founder of the educational group Rizoma, which is an extension of his school. Celio is passionate about astrophysics, contemplates nature like no one else, reads over ten books per month, and still has time to finish online courses from Harvard University. Celio has a passion for life and this is noticeable by looking into the principles he lives for - kindness. As a young teenager, he served in the Brazilian Navy for five years, where he became second class Petty Officer and learned important lessons about leadership and life. The navy was also where he found his passion for astrophysics. He then endeavoured into academic life, graduating in Biological Sciences and concluding his masters degree in Pedagogy from Sao Paulo University. Mr. Alves then returned to his home town to become school principal of the only state school in the region. Under his supervision, the school reinvented itself, and now has a curriculum that makes every student excited about being at school and participating in educational excursions.
Frederico Osorio, Msc
Fred is a Senior Conservation Manager for Marine Protected Habitats. He joined the federal role more than ten years ago. In his early career, Frederico fought illegal deforestation and wildlife trafficking in remote parts of the Amazon Forest. Being a biologist, with a masters degree in Marine Tropical Sciences, he moved to the Northeast of Brazil, and continues to fight against illegal fisheries activities. Besides this high-risk role, Frederico is also dedicated to improving the lives of small communities by helping and engaging with the community on a personal level. No wonder he is highly recognised in his small town where he lives. When Fred is not at the office or wearing his uniform, you will find him practicing kite surfing, and actively improving his mental and physical health. Frederico has a positive impact in our project, teaching students how to become community leaders and nature conservationists.
